But the patroit act should have been a no-brainer, any bill that uses the word 'patriot' in the title has got to be suspicious in and of itself.
It's funny how everyone acts like they never heard that quote "Patriotism is the last refuge for scoundals". |

Though, in truth it probably would have been almost as logical to attack Saudi Arabia as it would have been to attack Afghanistan. Of course, the last place we needed to attack was Iraq. |

Even right after the terrorist attacks, there were people talking about the red scare. But when most of the population is caught up in the politics of fear, like in the red scare, they are not rational.
That's why even if you see a new red scare coming, there is nothing as a single individual you can do to stop it. Only the leadership can put the breaks on, and usually it is in the leader's best interest to hit the gas not the breaks, especially if they are pro-military or semi-facsist themselves. |
