Forget the Democrats. They are a red herring and useless to the counter-Authoritarian cause. In fact they are in many ways complicit with the regime, much like the Social-Democrats were when Hitler gave himself dictatorial powers.

While I do blame them for being pussies now, they were in a tough spot at that time. The nation had just been attacked by some sort of external force, which is why I think afghanistan was the right move.

But the patroit act should have been a no-brainer, any bill that uses the word 'patriot' in the title has got to be suspicious in and of itself.

It's funny how everyone acts like they never heard that quote "Patriotism is the last refuge for scoundals".

they weren't allowed to even read the FlagWaver Act. but as far as afghanistan is concerned that wasn't right either. we weren't attacked by afghanistan. we were attacked by rogues.

They were officially supported by the taliban, the taliban may not have known what they were up to, but they did provided a home base of operations. Not to mention that their views and attitudes towards women were obscene to any western culture.

Though, in truth it probably would have been almost as logical to attack Saudi Arabia as it would have been to attack Afghanistan. Of course, the last place we needed to attack was Iraq.

The problem with fascism, is that it's not that you can't see it coming. Even right after the terrorist attacks, there were people talking about the red scare. But when most of the population is caught up in the politics of fear, like in the red scare, they are not rational.

That's why even if you see a new red scare coming, there is nothing as a single individual you can do to stop it. Only the leadership can put the breaks on, and usually it is in the leader's best interest to hit the gas not the breaks, especially if they are pro-military or semi-facsist themselves.

it is said that nothing unites a country better than war and cricket/baseball/football/fav sport

its the politicians easiest way of drawing attention from their own misgivings n failures
